Autumn is probably the most beautiful time of the year on Ozarkedge. The Sassafras, Hickories, Dogwoods, Red Oaks, Maples and Sweet Gums put on a gorgeous show.
The Sassafras and Sweet Gums are brilliant, showcasing red, green, purple and gold simultaneously on any given tree.
The Hickories are yellow-gold and the Dogwood are bright crimson.
The muhly grass blooms with a soft pink glow.
River oats seed pods transition to brown and rattle in the breeze.
The button bush has shades of burnt orange and yellow.
Cat tails at the lake edge change from tight brown cylanders to fuzzy, creamy cotton.
The green cedars contrast beautifully with the sumacs carrying their heavy burgundy flower heads. There are many other beautiful trees, shrubs and grasses that put on a fall show. This rainbow of color is usually lit up by the deep blue fall sky.
And the fall wildflowers….. they are lovely and just add to the glory of the season. Take a look.
